Color Hues: TCH #7

Happy holidays on the first of December! I'm delighted to join the Color Hues 7th challenge today as the guest designer. This bi-monthly challenge focuses on a two color palette in your card design.

The two colors selected this session work well
for winter themes, don't you agree?

Card #1

My first card sparkles with starry blue holographic paper on one ornament and magenta shimmer paper decorating the second. The blue ball dangles via a scored line from the pine needles. Both ornaments and pine spray were directly glued on a die cut panel which was then adhered to a top-folding white card front.

Pine Needle Trio dies (SSS)
What the Doodle: Ornament die (PTI) first time to use this one
December Typed Words (PTI)

Card #2

I hate to discard negative die cuts especially when they serendipitously all line up. After a trim the white rectangle was directly glued to a blue panel to create the blue needles. The winter sentiment will let me use this for Christmas or other occasions.

Pine Needle Trio dies (SSS)
an old HA monthly kit sentiment
vellum banner (The Greetery)

The Color Hues team have beautiful ideas that you can see on the blog. They would love for you to play along with their new challenge.

My cards are also linked to the SSSW challenge: Anything Goes
Thank you for your visit!

  1. We were clearly on the same wave length with our projects! I love your die cut versions, and would love to see the holographic paper IRL! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

    1. That paper appeared miraculously! I made 4 other cards but my blue was navy and looked rather dark so made these two yesterday morning. Perfectionist syndrome

  2. Congratulations, Vikki, on your GD spot! Your DT card is fantastic, but I love the 'leftover' card as much! We've got to 'accentuate the negative' when it comes to card design - even when unplanned!

  3. I love how this came out. I know I already had a sneak peek and told you so but it's not official if I don't tell you here. Love the ornaments and the white on white at the top of the card! The nordic frame die really is eye catching too! All in all wonderful cards Vikki! Thanks for guesting with us.

  4. You've dazzled us with not just one, but two fabulous cards that play to the blue + magenta beautifully! Crushing over the pretty ornaments on the first and the clever use of the 'negative' die cuts on the second! A duo of inspiration! Thrilled to have you guest designing with us!

  5. Beautiful cards, Vikki! I never seem to use my ornament dies, but you've inspired me to get them out! Really love the look of the second card & I need to plan to use the negative space next time I die cut branches! Thanks for the idea!
