happy day...happy birthday

PTI Create Along with Us
January 2018

My favorite monthly challenge is PTI's

As soon as I saw the card below by Wanda Guess during PTI's release week,
I knew exactly what my project would be this month!

The drama of color against a dark background along with the beautifully colored
blossoms captured my eye and desire to try this technique. But, I was also in love
with the darling birds featured in the January release and choose birds instead of
flowers for the focus. It turned out so pretty! IMHO

PTI Products:
Stamps & Dies: Songbirds, Ways to Say: Happy Birthday, Noted: A2
Paper: Smoky Shadow
Colored Pencils over Hero Arts Unicorn White pigment ink

Be sure to look at Create Along with Us where more entries are posted!

Make It Monday #309:
Heat Embossed Stencil Backgrounds

Melissa  is featured on the Make It Monday challenge this week
with tips on creating unique backgrounds using stencils.

Melissa's inspiration

It was fun choosing a stencil but it actually took two
attempts to complete today's card. I'm trying to use a
variety of my stamps and dies and achieved my goal!

PTI Products:
Stamps: Infinity Frames Sentiments, Stemmed Statements
Dies: Cover Plate: Horizontal Stripes, Stemmed Statements
Stencil: Woodblock Prints
Misc.: Copics, Hero Arts Grape Juice ink, Versamark ink,
sequins, white & clear embossing powders

Thank you for stopping by to see the latest creation!

thinking of you...winter blues

Today's card was created for Simon Says: Winter Blues #sssmchallenge

I needed several sympathy cards this week and remembered an older wood Memory Box stamp of bare tree trunks. After stamping it with VersaFine Onyx Black and VersaMark inks I embossed it with clear embossing powder. Distress Inks were smooshed on an acrylic block and I water colored the sunset scene behind the tree trunks with a water brush. It turned out super cool. (IMHO) The tree square was finished with a PTI Noted square die and a PTI Twig Wreath sentiment stamped in navy. The square was set on a blue strip before attaching it off center on a cream A2 card distressed with the PTI linen impression plate.

Love You

Make It Monday #308
2017 A La Carte

It's a new year and the opportunity to look at last year's Make It Monday
challenges and choose one for the Make It Monday A La Carte 2018.
The purpose is to make something from a week that we didn't enter in 2017
but I opted to repeat Lexi Daly's Pantone Chip inspired cards challenge.

Card #1- PTI stamps & dies

In June I used bright yellow but with Valentines Day coming up I chose
Lovely Lady, a soft pink shade. Since Valentines often includes roses,
Rosie Posie's smaller bloom dies were used and popped up on foam
adhesive tape over stamped small leaves on the pink chip. My first card
shows the pink square on a Soft Stone striped Center Style: Feminine
die cut adhered to a light taupe side-folding card.

Card #2 - PTI stamps & dies

This card has another Lovely Lady pink chip with a Rosie Posie bloom but on a cream
Mix & Mat: Postal Die with the stitched line and popped on a vivid Hibiscus Burst card.

Both cards used a phrase from the Infinity Frames Sentiments stamp set.
I'm sorry about the poor quality of color as I took these after sunset.

Kind and kindness

What better way to begin a new year than with the word "kind"?
I purchased the SSS November kit and never got a chance to ink
it up with the crunch of making 50+ Christmas cards. But with
thank you and birthday cards needed it was put to good use.
The kit came with some wonderful papers which I will use but
first came my experiments with stamping, embossing and the die.

Mostly stamped plus Copic markers

This one got the golden touch with gold embossing powder and Prismacolor pencils

Ranger DI markers colored this rendition

Stamped with Hero Arts and Ranger DI inks,
PTI heart border die, SSS stitched rectangle die

Ranger DI inks plus a PTI die
