Oh, glitter, you are not my friend but with a swiffer cloth 

to clean the messy scene I might attempt this again! Ha ha!

Decided glitter is more a holiday thing for me so on the

last week of August made a Christmas card using Lexi's

instructions on this week's MIM challenge.

Card Supplies:

Dies: PTI Mix & Mat: Plaid, PTI Sprigs & Spruce, Sizzix Nested Stars

Misc.: Martha Stewart glitter, Ranger watercolor cardstock, foam tape

Layering Patterns Over Images

Joining on the final day of PTI's MIM challenge with inspiration 

from Dawn McVey's delightful video and set of cards.

My take on Dawn's inspiration:

Card #1

The card uses the new PTI Simply Gourd-eous stamps along with older PTI Autumn Pumpkins leaf sprigs and a sentiment from PTI Stylized Autumn. After each gourd was stamped in non-traditional colors, PTI's Little Argyle was overlaid with a light taupe ink on the SSS stitched rectangle panel. A stamped sentiment looked a bit lost so I white embossed the sentiment over an argyle pattern on a kraft gourd die cut, added a string bow and mounted it with foam tape to the stamped panel.

Card #2

This card uses PTI's Palm Prints in various greens, the Cover Up: Grid stamped in brown, a white embossed Happy Birthday from Botanical Blocks on a dark brown flag with a smaller sentiment from Infinity Frames Sentiments stamped below the panel. The Sentiment Splits: Curve Vertical die cut panel was elevated with fun foam. A couple of scored lines echo the lines of the grid stamping.

Love You

It's release week for the new Papertrey Ink products! PTI sponsors a challenge to recreate an inspiration from the design team with our own stash called Create Along with Us. It's a dilemma to choose a project or designer but here goes.

Kelly Lunceford's darling wreath with the gourds caught my eyes. 

My focus was the wreath frame, three brightly colored elements (gourds), 

a large sentiment and gingham paper card front. 

I used a favorite Cover Plate: Stitched Die, cutting it from watercolor paper and coloring each leaf blade and the vine with a water brush and my inexpensive tin of watercolors. Since my card is for bird man Jim to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary on Sunday, the gourds morphed into a couple of Brushed Birds and a Botanical Bounty bloom stamped with Hero Arts and Brilliance inks. The birds were each backed with another bird cut in blue paper, offset slightly and popped up with foam tape. The bloom and PTI sentiment are glued directly to the cover plate panel. This was centered on an old Soft Stone pattern paper and taped directly to a white card front. The birdies got a bit of Wink O Stella on their heads. I will try this again using PTI Rustic and Twig Wreaths.

Petite Pattern Play

Wow, it's only Tuesday and I've already made six cards for the MIM challenge on Papertrey's blog. Michelle shared her technique for creating patterns with small stamps to ground a larger focal point. I made a set of three cards stamping the same small flower and tiny dot in a square pattern but in varied colors. A layered die cut bird from the Songbirds set sits on the square and a Butterfly Hope sentiment is stamped below. Each panel was directly glued to a Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical panel cut from coordinating Bitty Big pattern papers and taped to a top folding white card. 

Fun, fun project!!

Monday's set was so much fun that I got busy making a second set today. This time a petite pattern of Fancy Flourishes and butterflies in different colors but a different sentiment for each card. Each stitched rectangle panel was layered on a Basic Grey pattern paper before taping to a kraft card.

Hello there

It seems like I've needed a lot of sympathy or encouragement cards lately.

My first card today is for a new friend with a cancer diagnosis.

For this week's Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink's blog, Stephanie Gold shared her technique of creating a mixed background texture. I used a Woodblock Prints stencil to create a row of Distress Oxide pistachio green flourishes before adding a modified Modern Cross die cut. The panel was directly glued to a mint julep A2 side-folding card. Several die cut blooms dusted with wink of stella and a banner were arranged at the upper corner. A Pen & Ink sentiment sending "paper hugs" was stamped inside.
