Flowers in Reverse
What a treat this week to see the new Papertrey Make it Monday challenge! It was Dawn McVey's first MIM video since her rare transplant surgery last fall. Dawn is known for her love of color and flowers. Her habit of playing with floral die cuts prompted her idea to reverse the colors of flowers and leaves. This totally refocuses the design and naturally leads to lots of layers.
Dawn's cards
My card
I used vellum die cuts from PTI's Lovely Layers, Circle Scribbles,
and white card stock for the flower centers. The vellum leaves were
stamped, embossed and colored on the back side with Copic markers. Both white flower parts were mounted with foam tape over a dotted vellum circle scribbles die cut. The floral group was placed on a stamped panel which was adhered to a soft stone A2 card.
PTI Supplies unless noted otherwise:
Stamps: Butterfly Blooms, Lovely Layers, Hero Arts Looped Flower Pattern Cling background
Dies: Circle Scribbles, Lovely Layers, SSS Stitched Rectangles
Paper: Vellum cardstock, Sheer Basics Vellum, Soft Stone, Bristol White
This card is simply stunning! Lovely Layers is one of my all-time favorite sets and this gorgeous color combination is perfect with it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen. I must admit that the use of vellum for the two bottom layers was inspired by Virginia Lui's creations. She does the best things with vellum! The funny part of this project was after deciding on LL, I found this previously stamped panel with a similar pattern as the LL base leaves.
DeleteThis is lovely! Your flower is gorgeous as is your background and the colors are soft and beautiful. I don't have this stamp set, but it is on my wish list.
ReplyDeleteVikki, this is so pretty and I love that looped background! I was going to use this set but couldn't figure out what to do with it. You mastered it!
ReplyDeleteSo subtle and beautiful, with your centered floral. Your layers are perfect! Love the vellum leaves!
ReplyDeleteVikki, this is stunning! I love the soft stamped background and the detail on your leaves is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work Vikki! I admire your use of vellum~I struggle with that paper~
ReplyDeleteAwesome card! I love the way you put that flower together with the Lovely Labels die and the added vellum. Simple but yet so pretty.
ReplyDeleteVikki, the looped background on Soft Stone was perfect with your beautiful Lovely Layers. Vellum always adds such a touch of class, and you did it well.
ReplyDeleteSaw this on IG, but came for a better look & to pin it! Lovely Layers is something I was immediately drawn to, but haven't used that much. Your color choices make for a stunning card, Vikki!
