celebrate

Transformation Tuesday Challenge #11 @ PTI

On Monday I created this card for the PTI June Blog Hop. I was pleased to use ink blending on my bright butterflies. Well, I must confess to keeping most scraps and had the negative ink- blended panel on my desk thinking something might come of it. And voila, the second card using Butterfly Hope was created and I love it!

Card #1

Card #2

It totally changed the look of the butterflies, didn't it? The panel was directly glued to a white card front and the upper corner rounded off. Using VersaMark ink, I stamped an inner wing design from Butterfly Hope, lining up the middle body space with the antenna and embossing with a platinum EP.  I die cut the large Birch Press 'celebrate' twice in white, stacked and glued them to a weathervane gray strip which I fussy cut to mimic the letter shapes. The envelope was lined with a paper from the PTI Envelope Envy kit. It was mailed today for a card-blogging friend's birthday next week.

Hooray! Cheer! Love You! XOXO

Papertrey June Blog Hop
Simon Says: Bright and Cheerful

Visions of summer treats and rainbows! Yay!!
This month's challenge photo is tantalizing but alas,
I have no popsicle stamps or dies!
No problem, butterflies to the rescue!

With Distress Oxide inks I blended bright stripes on water color paper and sprinkled water to add interesting spots. Next I repeatedly cut PTI's Butterfly Hope die rotating the die for each butterfly to catch the colors. Butterflies naturally rest on plants in the yard and I wanted mine to find a landing spot on the card. The horizontal slats of a cover plate die created a trellis for the butterflies and areas to also stamp small sentiment phrases. A few sequins mimic the blackberries and blueberries on the tray.

This card is ready to cheer someone's summer day!
PTI Supplies:
Butterfly Hope die, Cover Plate: Stripes Horizontal die,
Infinity Frames Sentiments, Soft Stone card stock
Inks: Distress Oxides-Broken China, Fired Brick, Twisted Citron,
Wilted Violet, Worn Lipstick; Momento-Paris Dusk

Thinking of You

Flowers in Reverse

What a treat this week to see the new Papertrey Make it Monday challenge! It was Dawn McVey's first MIM video since her rare transplant surgery last fall. Dawn is known for her love of color and flowers. Her habit of playing with floral die cuts prompted her idea to reverse the colors of flowers and leaves. This totally refocuses the design and naturally leads to lots of layers.

Dawn's cards

My card

I used vellum die cuts from PTI's Lovely Layers, Circle Scribbles,
and white card stock for the flower centers. The vellum leaves were
stamped, embossed and colored on the back side with Copic markers. Both white flower parts were mounted with foam tape over a dotted vellum circle scribbles die cut. The floral group was placed on a stamped panel which was adhered to a soft stone A2 card.

PTI Supplies unless noted otherwise:
Stamps: Butterfly Blooms, Lovely Layers, Hero Arts Looped Flower Pattern Cling background
Dies: Circle Scribbles, Lovely Layers, SSS Stitched Rectangles
Paper: Vellum cardstock, Sheer Basics Vellum, Soft Stone, Bristol White

Sending you love

I chose Michelle Leone's card from Day 5 with the
new Bold Borders: Wave die for my CAWU inspiration.

My photo from last night was so dark I replaced it this morning.

A case of her card but with my own stash:
an intricate white frame
the large word die
bits of yellow blooms
Aqua Mist Bitty Big paper

My card used all Papertrey products with the exception of the "love" (Altenew Bold Alphabet dies)
Sentiment - Swoosh
Blooms - Bitty Bouquets stamp/die
Frame - Floribunda Frame die
Aqua Mist Bitty Big paper
Ranger water color paper (frame) and Winkin' Stella for "love"sparkles

The Best is Yet to Come

Another celebration card done and ready to mail! Yay!
Stephanie Gold's cascading die cuts down a card front inspired
my last minute entry for this week's Papertrey MIM challenge.

The top half of the sentiment was embossed with Ranger Gold EP as were the leaf veins. The trio of dots from Rustic Wreath were stamped with Delicata Golden Glitz ink on the saffron spice panel before attaching panel and die cuts to the card front.

Papertrey stamps & dies unless noted:
Palm Prints, Pen & Ink, Rustic Wreath, SSS Stitched Rectangles
