Spot Color Word Diecuts

This week's challenge from Betsy Veldman on the PTI blog

is a new technique for me. I noticed that it makes a difference seeing the diecut word when it is "fatter" and the ink stamping lighter. I used the rose image from Botanical Blocks and the die from Wonderful Words: Love. It's a fun effect!

It's April 25 and time for another PTI Blog Hop!

Our inspiration is below.

I was drawn to the floral bouquet on the bottom tea cup, the curvy gold edges of the china and the subtle pattern of the background. My paternal grandmother who was not the least bit domestic had a set of china like this. My mom was totally into homemaking but used very modern, graphic patterned dishes, not one floral in her cupboards. Me, I'm a happy-in-between gal with my favorite set of Portmerion Botanic Garden dish ware!

What fun to discover a cache of stamped die cuts that coordinate 

with pattern paper from Papertrey's Hooray kit! I added a sentiment 

from Concord & 9th's new Wreath Turnabout set.  

I can't decide if I like it with the bird or not. what do you think?

Merry

I'm on a roll for producing Christmas cards ahead of time now that I've found a couple year-round challenges focused on Christmas. This month's CAS Christmas: Ornament challenge prompted me to create an ornament not from a stamp but from a wreath die cut which was backed by another circle die cut and hung on a silver ribbon. The "merry" from PTI's Sprig Wreath was embossed with sparkly platinum EP on a PTI Shape Shifters: Round die cut.  VersaMark ink, clear EP and a SSS Snow Falling stencil with ink blended DI added texture around the merry. The wreath was foam mounted to the "merry" circle with a few aqua glitter PTI Confetti Garland border stars added. The ornament was grounded with light stenciling on the card, the green ink at the top hinting that a tree branch is near.

Graffiti Word Art

Last minute card Sunday evening/early Monday morn to join the MIM challenge. I found a word die in PTI's Tipped Tops die set, cut it from water color paper, blended three Distress Inks across it, and glued it on a pattern paper from PTI's Hooray! kit. After stamping three more words around the "Happy" I added tiny diamond crystal Stickles dots to the banners, cut a scalloped border and adhered it to a white card front.

I popped by the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge this week which focused on using a favorite Christmas verse. Immediately the words to Silent Night came to mind and a PTI Christmas Faith stamp set of shorter phrases, one of which was from Silent Night. The scene was stamped with an older Hero Arts cling stamp, Merriest Christmas Wishes, and inked with Broken China DI Oxide on the bumpier side of a Ranger water color paper panel. The paper texture caused spotted coverage even with two tries which sort of looks like a snowy evening around the lone bird. A sentiment was stamped with black ink below and the panel adhered to a white card front.

While I had the Hero Arts stamp out, I made two more cards of different designs. The second card framed the square with a PTI Center Style: Feminine die cut from silver card stock and a PTI Bells & Boughs' sentiment. This was centered on an aqua panel banded with a coordinated pattern paper and added to an A2 white card

The third card uses the PTI Quilted: Tag Sale to frame the scene. In this panel I manipulated the oxide ink with water to create a varied look before white embossing a sentiment from PTI's Thrill of Hope.

I fell in love with the aqua birch tree pattern paper and added it to the card front before mounting the tag on foam.

Fantastic to have three cards ready for next Christmas!
