MIM #329:
Creating Stencils from Die Cuts
Melissa Phillips created the current PTI MIM challenge by stretching her dies
to make a stencil with them. I made a stencil using the inside of the Shape
Shifters: Oval 1 die which features several tiny flower and leaf sprigs. I cut a
Sweet Blush Bitty Big Mix & Mat: Flourishes panel on which I sponged ink
through my stencil. A Berry Sorbet stitched rectangle panel provides a colorful
setting for the stenciled panel with a Beautiful Berries: Spring branch and
a Tag Sale: Quilted banner with a Butterfly Blooms sentiment. The berries
were stamped with VersaMark ink and gold embossed for more sparkle.
While the stencil was out I made another card using different colors. This time
the stenciling was on a Shape Shifters: Oval 1 die cut which was mounted
with fun foam on an old pattern paper from my stash and decorated with more
Beautiful Berries: Spring die cuts and a little wooden birdie. The large PTI
word die sentiment is cut from blue shimmer paper and glued directly on the
stenciled panel.
2 lovely cards, Vikki. Love the sweetness of the soft blue plaid card. And the pink has the look of a vintage hankie, pretty and colorful!
ReplyDeleteLovely cards, indeed. I particularly like the blue one.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful and sweet!
ReplyDeleteTwo pretty cards! Interesting how each flower arrangement looks so different just by changing the colors.
ReplyDeleteTheses are as different as can be and both are beautiful! It's amazing what a switch of colors and dies makes. Well done, Vikki, love it!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful, Vikki! Great choice for the stenciling! You're making me think I really need some of those berry sets! Glad you got home OK & too bad about the smoke. Couldn't make it without air conditioning!
ReplyDeleteWOW, Vikki, you went to town with these two beauties! Hard to believe you used the same stencil and berries on both but they look totally different. Our friend in Ashland said they’ve been warned to wear masks when going outside so thought of you in Southern OR. Praying all is well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathy. We have smoky skies around Roseburg but 2 hours SE of us in Ashland and Medford it's miserable. The terrain is very steep and rough so hard to fight plus drought conditions. We've had less than an inch of rain since the end of April thus any lighting strikes from high heat over our mountains results in fires, 729 altogether as reported this weekend.
