Merry Christmas

Time Out #63

It's been a while since I've joined the Time Out group but their current challenge theme of Holidays with the Optional Twist of No Stamping intrigued me plus provided the impetus to begin the Christmas card stash. Papertrey Ink dies were used for the design and a SSS stitched rectangle die for the panel.

The sentiment for card #1 was die cut from red glitter paper.

The tree was decorated with various colored Stickles and

the background created with a SSS Falling Snow stencil.

The 2nd card used dark red card stock for the sentiment die. I left some of the centers intact.

I'm including this card at Time Out

SAF 2016

This weekend I joined for the first time the fifth annual Stamp-a-faire sponsored by the Papertrey Ink design team. The day was filled with tutorials and videos covering the influence of master artists in history from impressionists to Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol - all for free! Finally found the time today to make cards for three of the categories. I may make more if I get off my behind~

Color Blocking with Lexi Daly

Lexi instructed us in color blocking technique - what fun! I stamped a PTI Woodblock Print motif in black ink four times,  turned the stamp over, inked up the back side with VersaMark ink and clear embossed the images. After masking with painter's tape and post-it notes, ink blended the four squares with distress inks using colors found in Indian textiles. Framed in black the panel was mounted a top-folding card stamped with a Hero Arts envelope pattern design. A sentiment from PTI Beautiful Butterflies was stapled over top. If doing this same card again, I would color the motifs a complementary color before clear embossing over them which would have been more interesting.

Watercolor Like a Master with Kay Miller

I think everyone fell in love with Kay and her lovely southern accent! Her video and technique using stamps and water to blur the edges of our designs was outstanding! I'm usually a very controlled stamper and the freedom Kay taught was a bit unnerving! But perseverance prevailed and the beauty of PTI's Meadow Greens made it easier for me. I used distress inks and a water brush to achieve my efforts on a forgiving heavy watercolor paper. Unfortunately you can barely see the ferns stamped in the lower left corner. The panel was die cut with a SSS stitched rectangle. After stamping a sentiment, I cautiously spattered the card with Heidi Swapps' Citron Color Shine.

Papertrey July Blog Hop Challenge

My card today was inspired by Nichole

Heady's photo shared at capture the moment

for the July Blog Hop Challenge.

This mid-century room had so many wonderful elements

with which to work. I chose to focus on the pillow, making

a stitched square and resting it on a textured blue panel

inspired by the chair and rug.

Card Recipe:

PTI Stamps: One Big Happy, Painted Petals (sentiment),

PTI Dies: Noted: Scalloped Square, Tag Sale: Quilted

Hero Arts Shadow Inks: Pool, Soft Canteloupe, Soft Pool, Stone Wash

Paper: Caslon water color, PTI Aqua Mist & Soft Stone

Misc.: Lifestyle Crafts Chain embossing folder, Recollections enamel dot

PTI SAF Friday Night Gallery Reception

I selected this card from a set of cards that I made September 2015

to send several of my Canadian friends for their October 1 Thanksgiving.

I smooshed several orange and red distress inks onto watercolor paper

and let it dry before die cutting with several PTI leaf dies. It was fun

assembling the group of cards with various backgrounds and sentiments.

This is my entry for Friday Night Gallery

Here is the collection.

thanks

Create Along with Us July 2016

There is Sunshine

Make It Monday #253

Reverse Stenciling

Today's card was made with my new Make It Market
Mini Kit: Sunshine & Rainbows from Papertrey Ink.

If you view Betsy's video, you'll see how to do this technique.

As you can see from my photo, we have a sunny June day!

The word "sunshine" was die cut out of the stenciled panel,

backed with bright yellow card stock before mounting the

panel on a light orange card base.
