MUSE CHALLENGE #149

Kept seeing so many cute cards around the blogosphere casing this design from Tracey McNeely. I made several versions of the design with a boo boo on at least three to mar the finished card. The green rectangle was die cut from eye-popping neon green card stock which was toned down by swiping picket fence Ranger Distress Stain over the entire surface before it was glued to the card. The stamped square was popped up with a square of fun foam. Kinda like how the flowers ended up looking like hearts, though not your usual Valentine colors.

I was inspired by Tracey's colors, the stitched frames and the curve of the floral design.

HAPPY birthday

After making this birthday card yesterday with Papertrey Ink's Modern Cross Quilt cover plate die, I looked at the pieces removed from the die and told myself not to throw them away. Today I made a stencil from the Modern Cross cover plate, glued all the colorful smooshed pieces onto a PTI soft stone pattern paper panel, added two PTI word die cuts and a seam binding bow to complete it.

I've entered this in the January Time Out Challenge where the focus is birthday cards and an optional twist of adding sponging. The design team shared many beauties to inspire and you can look at all the entries by clicking here.

Birthday Wishes

Happy New Year!

Crafting resolutions for 2016:  to post more often and join a variety of challenges.
At least the number of my 2015 posts more than doubled the previous year. Unlike many of the bloggers that I follow, my blog was created mainly for online classes and challenge entries. I enjoy the interactions we make on blog hops.

I'm busy making birthday and get well cards after months of Christmas cards. Today's card combined watercolor smooshing, stamping and embossing on vellum.

Card Recipe:
Stamp: Papertrey Ink Swoosh
Die: PTI Modern Cross Quilt cover plate
Inks: Ranger Distress mowed lawn & peacock feathers, Momento New Sprout,      Versa Mark
Extras: silver embossing powder, PTI striped vellum, watercolor paper, silver card stock

Colors were inspired by the colour Q #324 challenge

Noel

Papertrey December Blog Hop Challenge

it's that time of the month again.

This cheerful group of holiday plates was our inspiration point!
They reminded me of the Tinsel & Tags stamp & die set from December 2014.
I stamped my "Noel", added it to a PTI polka dot vellum circle and attached
the circles to a piece of an old MME Christmas designer paper. After seeing
Leigh Penner's tags I think die cuts would have made it more special! Next time.

Christmas Cards 2015

This is the first year that I didn't mass produce the same card for everyone and it was so much fun! A few designs were repeated but not many. I thought you might like to see a variety since I don't post daily. Some cards are cased from Papertrey Ink designers; almost all of the stamps & dies used are PTI products.

Yay! only 4 more days until I see my three grandsons and their parents!!

Today's card is out of my comfort zone. I was trying to use some PTI Holiday
Folk patterned paper and combined it with Virginia's View Challenge #21: Glitter. Virginia is closing her popular challenge this month - boo hoo!  My entry resulted in a busy, festive, and glitzy-for-me Christmas card! The card size is 4.25 x 6" in order to place a photo inside. Some of my family and friends do not get on Facebook so needed to send a new picture with me and my gray hair!

Stamps: PTI Bells & Boughs, Oopsie Daisy (for the dotted line), 'Tis the Season Sentiments
