Create Along with Us

Nichole Heady on the first release
day used the new Botanical Blocks IV.

I created a sympathy card with the
PTI Botanical Blocks rose and a
sentiment from Brushed Blooms.

Yay! Tonight I ordered the new Christmas Botanical Blocks plus a bit more!

MAKE IT MONDAY #263: BACKGROUND BUILDING WITH FRAMES

Amy Sheffer from the Papertrey Ink design team provided the impetus for today's card. The MIM
challenge focused on using die cut frames in a new way, as a tool for creating a background.

Amy Sheffer's card

My frame is a wreath die cut from woodgrain paper which was layered on a stitched rectangle panel stamped with silver evergreens and berries. I added portions of two more wreaths for the background and a "Peace" sentiment that coordinates with the wreath. The card is 4.5 x 6" so it can be mailed with a photo for Christmas. Ta Da! one more card for the season.

Card Menu:
PTI Stamps: Enclosed: Wreath, Spruce & Sprigs
Dies: PTI Enclosed: Wreath, SSS Stitched Rectangles
Card Stock: SSS woodgrain for wreaths, PTI Ocean Tides, DCWV Shimmer, Staples white
Ink: Hero Arts silver shadow
Silver sequins

Sending Birthday Hugs & Wishes

On October 1 a dear friend turns 65. We first became friends in 1974. While we have not lived near each other in 41 years we can begin a conversation as if we saw each other daily. She has a collection of mice so when my new Christmas Critters set arrived I was ready to decorate her birthday card.

Card Menu: Papertrey Ink stamps, dies and olive twist card stock and a miscellaneous bit of patterned paper; Inks: Hero Arts Soft Purple and Grape Juice shadow, Brilliance Pearl Beige; a gold wink of stella heart.

After re-reading the CASology rules my card front may be a bit busy for a clean and simple look. I kept the layers to a minimum with the frame containing the big element of the "cute" mouse!

Sending Just a Little CHEER

             Make It Monday #261
Using Florals on a Masculine Project

It's not always easy to make a card for a man and in my family that is a concern
as I have a husband, two sons, three grandsons, a brother, two BILs and uncles.
The challenge with Betsy Veldman at capture the moment  gave me some
tips on incorporating florals stamps from my stash to make a masculine card.
Usually I use geometric figures, trees or leaves but a flower in the right color
and shape works too! I decided to also make the card larger, 4.5 x 6".

My idea for the banner came from a card design Dawn McVey made during the September release.

PTI Stamps & Dies: Basic Bookmark 2, Big Hugs,  Note Niblets, Painted Petals, Spruce & Sprigs

Create Along with Us: September 2016

I thought these small square cards of Heather Nichols at Pine Is Here in the September Papertrey Ink release were adorable! Since my mouse critters have not arrived on the west coast, I adapted with a reindeer from the Make It Market mini kit: Holiday Folk.

Merry Christmas snow flurries

Make It Monday 3259 - Ombre' Cluster Stamping

MIM features Dawn's cluster stamping in ombre' tones at the capture the moment blog
                                                             Here is her pretty example.

With school starting and fall arriving in 3 weeks, I'm focused on Christmas cards. We're off in our Winnebago this Thursday to Glacier National Park and other NW parks for two weeks. There will
be no card making along the way but I may bring some stamped images to color in the evenings.

The more this card sat at my desk I thought it needed glamming up! So I die cut the three different size flakes, stamped in the original colors for that size and embossed with an old non-brand Holographic Gloss powder to give it some Christmas snow sparkle. I like it much better. It also emphasizes the cascading effect of the different sized flakes.

Card Menu:
Papertrey Ink Stamps: Snowflake Flurries (vault), Bunny Basket (tiny flower star)
PTI Die: Snowflake Flurries
Hero Arts shadow inks: Pool, Silver, Soft Pool and Soft Stone
Silver paint pen to frame the flat panel, a bit of clear Wink of Stella on snowflake centers
