Make It Monday #214

Stamping with Neutrals

In this week's Make It Monday challenge, Dawn spotlighted the use of neutral colors in stamping a background. Check out her video here:   Dawn's tips on Stamping with Neutrals

I inked Distress Inks on an acrylic block, misted with water and smooshed the water color paper on the block. After it was dry I stamped various Irresistibly Ikat stamps with a soft grey ink finishing the card with the sentiments in darker colors. The water color panel was adhered to a raspberry color A2 card and some shiny pearls added.

Stamps: PTI Irresistibly Ikat, Wet Paint III
Inks: Distress Inks - picked raspberry, shaded lilac, squeezed lemondade; Hero Arts Soft Grey Shadow; Momento Black; Versamark
PTI cardstock, water color paper, silver pearls, white embossing powder

Papertrey May Blog Hop

Julian's #8 Card

Nichole challenged us to use rainbow colors, various shapes,
splatters of color to create our card this month. Take a look
at the wonderful cards entered into this month's challenge at

We were given this photo for inspiration!

The inspiration photo is so fun - what to do with though? It reminded me of May flowers, movement, and a hint of the number 8. Aha! My oldest grandson turns 8 this week! So abandoning my dozen or more sets of Papertrey Ink floral sets I grabbed the PTI Triangle cover plate, the Tiny Triangles and Boy Basics: Out of this World stamp sets and set to work. It took a bit to figure out how many triangles with the rainbow color scheme could create an "8" and still let me stamp the rocket & sentiment inside the loops of the eight. I stamped the rocket a second time with Momento Black Ink, colored it with Copics and fussy cut parts to make the rocket stand out more, adding sparkly platinum Stickles for accent. The inside of the card uses Zappy Birthday stamp set to wish Julian a super day!

Make It Monday #212Fussy Cutting

Graduation Card

Oh, oh, it's close to the end of May and I need some graduation cards. I pulled out a Tim Holtz stencil,  inked up an acrylic block with Distress Inks, mixed into each color some texturizing paste and applied it to a piece of watercolor paper. After drying I die cut two PTI Circle Scribble dies from textbook paper. I stamped on aqua card stock a PTI Wet Paint III sentiment with VersaMark ink, embossing with WOW white and fussy cut the "Congrats".  The panel was adhered to a kraft A2 card.

celebrate

Somehow I have more friends with May birthdays than any other month! So I have been building my stash up for the past few days. I often use a Papertrey Ink stamp set called Stylish Sentiments: Birthday containing a great assortment of birthday greetings. Looking at the collection I stamped a background composed of sentiments plus a few extra symbols. After mounting it on an orange note card, it needed a focal point which an orange vellum banner with "celebrate" provided.

The second card used a Papertrey Ink Feather Finery feather stamped with Versamark ink and embossed in white. Tim Holtz Distress Inks were sponged on the background and a PTI "Hugs" was die cut from silver card stock for the sentiment.  This piece was adhered to a woodgrain card stock panel and mounted on a purple A2 card.

MAKE IT MONDAY #210:

USING VELLUM TO SOFTEN PATTERNS

Many times I've stamped a background pattern and ended up cutting it up to lessen it's dramatic effect but thanks to Lizzie's video I can now "hide" the drama behind vellum. Try it - you'll like it!

My inspiration for this card comes from
Lizzie Jones'  video on capture the moment blog.

Inks: Hero Arts Grape Juice, Momento Pear Tart
PTI vellum, clear embossing powder, vellum tape, chartreuse A2 card base

MAKE IT MONDAY #209:

WHITE ON WHITE DIE CUTS WITH A POP OF COLOR

I'm always looking for a new tulip card design for my Dutch friend, Anne and this week's Make It Monday challenge blog inspired this year's card. I couldn't resist using orange colors too!

I doubled the white die cuts and added a triple layer to my colored tulips.
