Merry Christmas tags

Make It Monday #268:
Double-Layer Tags

On Monday Dawn McVey shared her tips for layering tags and
embellishments.  I love her set of PTI Cozy Christmas vintage
thermoses and dies that she used for decorating the tags.

Her exuberant use of pattern and color inspired me to
grab an old Christmas paper pad or two, several PTI
stamp & die sets and set up an assembly line as she did.

Lots of pictures to follow but only four tags!

I can't believe that I didn't procrastinate until the weekend to do these!!
BTW, these tags are a bit busy for me but they'll go on plainly wrapped
boxes or gift bags so I can live with them.

I've looked at Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags challenge for a
few years but until now never entered. I was inspired by Lisa Buckeye's tag
on Day 18 to use a bookmark tag as base for my layered tags.

HAPPY birthday...

Papertrey November Blog Hop Challenge

It's a busy time of the year and this hop occurs on Black Friday!
Nothing black about our inspiration photo though!

Wow! Dawn McVey's colors for Christmas!

Birthday is my theme for this hop because we have several
family and friends with birthdays in December. I'm reaching
for an old PTI stamp/die set, Confetti Garland for my card.

Hawaiian Shores card stock was stamped with gold dots
from the CG set and topped with two, layered tags using
more elements from the photo. I colored some old glossy
paper with bright Copics and die cut the CG stars, balls and
snowflakes from them. Two PTI Tag Sale: Quilted tags were
cut, one from SSS white woodgrain paper and the other from
PTI starry vellum. The confetti die cuts were placed on the
woodgrain tag and a greeting from PTI Stylish Sentiments:
Birthday was stamped in Delicata Gold ink on the vellum.
A twist of seam binding with a gold string bow finishes the
card. There are several confetti shapes left for more birthdays!

Autumn blessings

This month I've had fun creating several autumn-themed
thanksgiving card sets. My mom's siblings lost their only
brother to cancer in May and I wanted several friends who
bring much joy and support to our church family to know
that they are appreciated. It was a lot of fun using several
new and old Papertrey Ink stamp and die sets to create my
notes of gratitude.

Inks used: Hero Arts Soft & Mid-tone Shadow.
The Mini Misti tool made all the stamping easy and precise.

Sending You Sunshine +

This month as the Papertrey Ink design team shared their projects during the release, Ashley's card on
Day 3 using the new Better Together set caught my eye. Her brightly colored florals outlined in white on kraft reminded me of folk art. I made three panels using a Doodlie Do floral bouquet stamped in VersaMark on kraft card stock and embossed in white. Each panel was cut with a different die and stamped with sentiments from several different PTI stamp sets.

Card #1 - the most influenced by Ashley

Card #2

Card #3 - left it plain without the prismacolor pencil coloring

All the surprising morning sunshine made these photos a bit bright. Sorry.

MAKE IT MONDAY #267:
ASSEMBLY LINE CARD-MAKING

The challenge this week on PTI's Make It Monday blog grew my stash of both Christmas cards, tags and use of hoarded pattern paper books. I currently own five holiday 6 x 6 paper pads, two of which have never been touched and are not recent purchases. I took Laurie's tips on setting up an assembly process and began with a few sheets of last year's Treetops Glisten paper pack. They were die cut with a stitched rectangle and adhered to 4 green tone A2 cards, 3 horizontal and 1 vertical orientation. The birds and sentiment are from the recent PTI Christmas Faith stamp/die set and banner from the Tag Sale: Quilted.

Card Menu:
Stamps: PTI Christmas Faith, Oopsie Daisy (dotted string for star buttons)
Dies: PTI Christmas Faith, Tag Sale: Quilted; Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles
Paper: PTI Treetops Glisten, color card stock, My Mind's Eye (birds)
Misc: star buttons, wood star, WOW White embossing powder, Versamark Ink

I used the same system to make four tags using a PTI Christmas Tree and Basic Bookmark 2 dies, My Mind's Eye Vintage Christmas (older than the hills) pattern paper pad, sentiments from Hero Arts and PTI's 'Tis the Season, black/red ink, sparkly Stickles and seam binding.

Peace...Joy...Love

This week's Make It Monday Challenge featured a technique tutorial
from Melissa Phillips using die-cuts as stencil shapes. Her cards are
amazing and I hope you'll check out her page.

In general my style is more CAS. This is my attempt for an
easy-to-mail, one-layer Christmas card. My stencil was
made from a seldom used PTI die, Delicate Details. Now
that I use spray adhesive, I'll be reaching for this pretty set.
I sponged a trio of green Distress Inks over the die cut on
the main card panel and lightly misted water for more depth.
Two mistletoe twigs die cut from DCWV shimmer paper
and PTI patterned vellum decorate the panel.

Card Menu: all PTI unless noted
Stamps: Botanical Blocks IV (sentiment), Mistletoe & Holly
Dies: Delicate Details, Mistletoe & Holly, SSS Stitched Rectangles
Inks: Distress Inks-Festive Berries, Evergreen Bough, Iced Spruce, Pine Needles
Misc.: an old Lawn Fawn Snow Day pattern paper, silver washi tape, Lawn Fawn twine, red glitter paper for berries
